Georgia Cobb County Poll Hours Extension Request

In re: November 5, 2024 General Election

Petition filed by the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration seeking to extend the hours for in-person voting on Election Day in two precincts from 7 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. On the morning of Nov. 5, 2024, two precincts, Mount Paran Church of God and Kell High School, experienced delays that led them to open at 7:20 a.m., 20 minutes after polling locations were supposed to open under state law. The county board of elections asks the court to allow these precincts to stay open until 7:20 p.m. to make up for the 20-minute delay in the morning to give every voter an opportunity to vote.

RESULT: The county board of elections filed its petition on Nov. 5. The court granted the request for an extension, meaning the polls in Mount Paran Church of God and Kell High School will be open until 7:20 p.m. EST.
