Michigan Legislative Redistricting Challenge (LWV)

Lawsuit filed in the Michigan Supreme Court on behalf of the League of Women Voters of Michigan, a coalition of voting and civil rights advocates and voters against the new state House districts drawn with 2020 census data. The lawsuit, filed against the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission, argues that the map favors Republicans in violation of multiple provisions of the Michigan Constitution. The plaintiffs ask the court to block the current map and order the creation of a new state House plan. The Michigan Supreme Court denied the requested relief and upheld the map.
