Pennsylvania Delaware County Voting Machines Challenge II

Mancini v. Delaware County

Lawsuit filed by Republican candidate for Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District, Alfeia Goodwin, and a voter against Delaware County, Pennsylvania challenging the county’s voting equipment. In February 2023, Delaware County upgraded the software for its electronic voting system. The plaintiffs claim the new software can create algorithms and manipulate election data. They also argue that Delaware County tested less than 3% of the county’s voting machines, violating the state’s requirement that all voting machines be tested ahead of an election. The plaintiffs claim this upgrade violates Pennsylvania law and ask the court to block the use of the county’s electronic voting systems ahead of the November 2024 general election and order the county to hand count the results of the election. A similar lawsuit filed against Delaware County earlier this year was dismissed on Sept. 9, 2024.

STATUS: The plaintiffs filed their complaint on Oct. 11, 2024. On Oct. 25, the court denied the plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction.
