South Carolina SSN Voter Registration
South Carolina Democratic Party v. Andino
Lawsuit filed on behalf of the South Carolina Democratic Party, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) challenging South Carolina’s requirement that individuals must disclose their full nine-digit Social Security Number (SSN) on their voter registration applications. South Carolina changed its position on this requirement soon after the lawsuit was filed and agreed to interpret the law as requiring only the last four digits of a registrant’s SSN.
