Wisconsin University of Wisconsin-Stout Poll Hours Extension Request

Democratic National Committee v. Martin

Lawsuit filed by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) against Clerk of the City of Menomonie, Kate Martin, seeking to extend in-person voting at the University of Wisconsin-Stout Commons polling location until 10 p.m. The DNC claims the University of Wisconsin-Stout polling location experienced delays due to inadequate staffing and resources on Election Day caused by unprecedented voter turnout. The DNC asks the court to extend voting hours at the polling location from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. to ensure all voters have an opportunity to cast their ballots in the November 2024 general election.

RESULT: The court denied the DNC’s petition. The University of Wisconsin-Stout polling location closed at 8 p.m. CST.
