Trump Campaign Files New Lawsuit in Michigan
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Trump campaign has sued Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson (D), the Michigan Board of State Canvassers, Wayne County and the Wayne County Board of County Canvassers in federal court in Michigan. Leveling unfounded claims of voter fraud, the lawsuit seeks to block the secretary of state and Wayne County — Michigan’s largest county — from certifying the results of the 2020 election. Last week, the Trump campaign filed a similar challenge in state court to try and stop counting ballots in Michigan. The lawsuit was dismissed.
The latest lawsuit joins other meritless legal challenges brought by the Trump campaign and Republicans across the country aimed at undermining public confidence in the 2020 election results. So far, nearly all of the lawsuits filed by Republicans have been thrown out in court.
